Welcome to our Foundation Learners class Dosbarth Famau. Our learning journey begins in Nursery and continues through Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. We also welcome Early Entitlement children from the term they reach their 3rd birthday.

Through our Foundation Phase classroom we provide our children with a secure, caring and stimulating learning environment were all those present have the opportunity to build and develop their skills and abilities.
All areas of the classroom are utilised to develop not only the children’s literacy and numeracy skills, but we also aim to develop other important aspects such as their fine motor skills, and well-being.
Throughout their school day all children will be engaging in child centred learning experiences, that are both meaningful and relevant; whilst also completing daily challenges and focus tasks based upon our topic at that moment.

Nursery will be reading the stories, ‘Handas Surprise and Handas Hen and their learning will be based around these stories.
Reception to Year 2 will be reading Mrs Panyas Pancakes and African folk tales. They will be writing diaries, postcards and recipes.
In Maths they will be learning about number, addition and subtraction. They will be solving word problems, creating graphs and learning about units of measure in their topic.
Spellings will go out on Thursday with reading books and are to be returned on Monday for the test.
PE will be on Friday and Forest School on Thursdays.
Children should bring their own snack and this should be based on the healthy school guidance from Welsh Government and include fruit, veg, yogurt, bread stick etc. Please ensure children bring their water bottles each day and have a coat.
Daily Mile / Milltir Y Dydd
Every day weather permitting your child will be involved in a brisk walk/jog/run around the school. We have found that this contributes to improved alertness, mood and they are ready to learn when they return to the classroom.
